Katharine McPhee was born Katherine Louise McPhee in Chicago, Illinois. In her youth, she attended the United States International School in Japan and the American Academy of Paris. She began singing at a young age and has been a member of American Idol since its inception. McPhee is best known for her role as Darlene Conner on the NBC television series Smash.
